But I've been taking a poetry class while in school--I'm getting a creative writing certificate--so here is one of my poems from last semester.
Doctor's Words
are crystal glass
offered to expectant guest;
vessels of light
refracting
in blues and golds,
or lurid reds.
sparkling champagne in
finest etched flute
set with china on the table.
mirrored shards, sharpened
knives in slippery,
fumbling grip.
brilliantly glaring,
within reach,
translucent, relentless;
this wine-filled chalice
is a cheerful toast
or goblet of drunken dejection.
